Laptops have developed at an amazing rate over the last few years but one of the most important parts of the modern laptop has always been the laptop battery. The beauty of the laptop is being able to catch up on your work, email or check the weather while you’re on the move.
With all these ever increasing demands on our laptops we need to be aware of our laptop battery life. Laptop batteries are becoming more advanced than other types of batteries. In the past they were constructed of NiCd or NiMH which provided less power and did not recharge well. Lithium polymer batteries are the newest revelation in battery technology and they are leaps and bounds beyond old metal batteries.
Like every other part of the laptop, the battery will undergo wear and tear and might need repairs.
The problem here is most computer shops and laptop suppliers don’t repair batteries laptop. This is because of their complex construction. And even if it were to be repaired, you would need expensive instruments and tools to do so.
It is for this reason that often it is suggested that if a battery is damaged, you should buy a new laptop battery, rather than repairing a damaged one. This is often a better and a cheaper idea.
How will you know when you need to think about buying a new laptop battery? Your laptop battery will start to weaken over a long period of time and most likely not just die on you overnight. If you have to keep charging your laptop every few hours or constantly need to keep it plugged into the outlet socket, these are signs you are having laptop battery problems.
Luckily there are some things you can do to look after your notebook/laptop battery. To get the most usage out of your battery you will need to understand a little bit more about how batteries work. Each battery has a limited number of charge cycles. If your battery lasts for 4 hours and on the first day you use it for 2 hours and then recharge it fully and the next day you use it for 2 hours again and then fully recharge it again, you will have completed one charge cycle.
