Laptop batteries have had a bad press recently because a small number have actually exploded. If used correctly and looked after you should have many years good use from your laptop battery with very few laptop battery problems.
I have been asked by clients in the past “why is my battery not responding” or “my laptop battery just died” can you fix it?. On further investigation I soon discover they have been trying to charge the battery with a charger from a different make of computer and caused major damage by over charging with a higher voltage or just damaged the jack on the motherboard. Some people also think the laptop is going to explode because it is getting very hot underneath, when infact it is not the battery getting hot it is the processer that’s causing the excess heat because the person is blocking the airflow vents with their laps.
To prevent laptop battery problems and to prevent you from having to buy new a laptop battery I would recommend to never use another charger from a different make of laptop because each brand has different voltage rates and power jacks. I would also recommend never to expose the laptop to extreme weather conditions as changes in temperatures can cause problems with laptop batteries.
