Laptop battery tips

If you find that you are often using the computer with the battery at full charge while connected to the mains outlet you may want to remove the battery. If you keep the battery fully charged while it’s at a high temperature, which is typical of conditions of a laptop that is always plugged into the main power supply, you will dramatically shorten the lifespan of the battery. Discharging the battery regularly is also conducive to long battery life. Under optimal conditions laptop batteries will last 24 to 36 months, under less than optimal conditions you may shorten the lifespan down to 12 to 18 months.

Always try and keep your laptop on a flat surface, if you have the laptop on your lap most of the time you can inadvertently stop the air flow through the computer, which can increase the battery temperature and damage it.
One sure indication that your notebook battery is near the end of its lifecycle is its capacity to hold its power for less than 60 minutes at a time. If this happens to you try and fully discharge the battery for five days in a row, this will allow the battery to hold the charge a bit longer
