If you search hard enough you may find someone willing to offer repairs for laptop batteries, but I would not really recommend this practice unless you are willing to pay a lot of hard earned cash doing so. This maybe one of these times when you have to consider if it is worth the money getting it repaired or is it better to go with a new one altogether.
Your laptop battery is made up with a number of individual smaller cells. Depending on the size you may have 6,8,or 12 smaller cells making up one larger battery powering your laptop. Some people have reported being able to replace just a few damaged smaller cells and having success with their battery replacement. Beware if you are contemplating this practice as it will cause your laptop warranty to be invalid because most laptop manufactures class the laptop battery a non serviceable part.
Some of the newer laptops have a SMART battery in which a small chip can monitor the cells and cut the power to the computer to protect it. Repairing laptop batteries is a specialist field and a practice not to be taken lightly. If you repair laptops and you are considering repairing a laptop/notebook battery for a client, think very carefully as this can be a lawsuit waiting to happen.
